Happy New Year indeed to all my clients past, present and future. Well - let's hope so after all the doom & gloom one sees every day in the media....
I'm afraid my Christmas was a non-event as I was waylaid with the dreaded flu virus and was practically bed-ridden for four or five days. I did however manage to lose quite a few pounds during this dark period and am now trying to follow on with this sudden new found weight-loss by implementing a stricter nutritional regime and very limited amounts of my beloved red wine. I don't have to mention to all those that have tried to do the same that it is tough going....
A favourite winter venue of mine is always Hever Castle, childhood home of Anne Boleyn, and where I'll be shooting soon. The dining room is very intimate, historic and very cosy with a huge fireplace dominating the room (not shown in this photograph).
As you can see lots of wood panelling and warm lights make it a perfect winter venue...
The cake shot at Hever is always a little bit of a challenge as it is always situated against one of these beautiful Tudor style windows - this means it is always back-lit so it means having to be really careful in balancing the exposure to guard against any dark photographs. It is though nice to have some natural window light to lift the lighting of the cake - it always amazes me the amount of times I see wedding cakes at venues placed in the deepest, darkest part of the room....
This is Julie & Mathijs' wedding shot at Hever - a small intimate occasion with 40 guests which seemed to perfectly compliment the venue....
